I don’t get this whole argument that people who are fat should be proud and you should not tell them they are harming them selves. I used to be fat, no benefit would have come if my friends and family had told me you are perfectly healthy and you look fine. No they sat me down and said you need to loose weight, you don’t look good. so I took there advice I went onto a diet and started exercising and now I have lost 50 lbs and I am in rather good shape and my physical and health has improved by leaps and bound because of it.

Go fuck yourself Maher. I’m sure your weed envy lectures will save all those poor families that can simply walk straight to the earthfare and spend all their money to buy only organic. Wait I meant take the city bus to the earthfare.

Bill Maher if we are going to talk about the health crisis due to weight can you also mention the fact that in a country where wages stay low and people are struggling it is significantly more expensive to try and eat healthier

I ate right, exercise, not overweight, but I end up with type 2 diabetes. Its genetic ( my mothers side ) . ,sometimes you just can't control it.

How could James Corden get so grotesquely fat? With all the personal trainers dossing about LA, you would think someone would at least approach him.

What has he said wrong though?

It's funny that James Corden's response video has more views from this one

Who else came from James Corden show?

I like Bill Maher & James Corden & think they both have a point to a point, just so we're clear on that from the get go.

Okay ... Managed to watch all three videos in this 'controversy' in reverse order 🤷
Didn't even know it was a thing until I watched Bill on Joe Rogan 😂😂

There are so many reasons why people are clinically obese but it is a VERY small percentage that are so JUST because they're lazy or JUST because they're greedy.

All that aside ...
4:55 😂😂😂🤣🤣😂
NRA of mayonnaise 👍

Actually, Planet Fitness had banned scales.

Whenever I travel to Paris, I'm always happy to see the number of fat Parisians to be less than the digits on my hand.

It's pretty disingenuous to relate revamping our health care system solely to people with poor diets. There are plenty of healthy people who come down with cancers and other diseases. My daughter was born with neurofibromatosis, insurance did not cover everything, it costs us a lot of money. Have you ever heard of St. Judges? There are plenty of children who get sick and parents go broke. What about small business owners who aren't fat, but get into an accident, or comes down with a sickness? What about people who lose their jobs and no longer have health insurance? What about the families on one income, and that person leaves or passes away? They should all suffer for those you refer to as fat? FFS Bill! If we are going to discuss health care, let's have an intelligent discussion as opposed to taking the opportunity to ridicule people who struggle with their weight.

One of my closest friends has had weight problems for pretty much her whole life. She tried everything under the sun to lose weight and nothing worked for her. It was even affecting her ability to have a child. And then, at the age of 36, one of her doctors finally thinks to do an ultrasound to see if she has a condition and, lo and behold... she had PCOS. A condition that remained undiagnosed for decades and which causes involuntary weight gain, among other things. And hers is hardly a unique case; it's estimated there are 5 million women in this country who have PCOS.

Bill, tell my friend - and all the women like her - how they all just need to "stop eating like an asshole." Do it. See what fucking good it does. I swear, you become more and more like Donald Trump every day, unreceptive to new information and convinced that what worked for you will work for everybody, and if it doesn't, then those people are worthless.

I’m overweight (currently changing my lifestyle, 20 pounds down so far) and I agree with Bill! He is 100 correct throughout this monologue, unlike James Corden...

This isn't Fat Shaming people I'm 30 lbs overweight and I fkn know it my Blood pressure has gone up bc of it and he only told the truth... I think it must be ok to be Obese bc there are TV shows about unhealthy Obese people...

Hey Bill, it's not shaming that has declined smoking, alcohol, seatbelts, littering, and racism you ignorant attention-seeker. Those were laws. You want to affect change? Maybe start lobbying for all the shit they pump into American food that causes obesity in the first place. Too much sodium; too much sugar -- a substance by the way which has been considered more addictive than cocaine, and they put it in everything over here. Then there's all the health claims about what's trending to be healthy for you at the time. FDA is a joke, hell-bent on refusing to pass real medicine that could affect many lives, but peddling through so much garbage without any real regulation or true studies on the damage to the human body. But hey, big pharma is endorsing a candidate this year and they don't want to be made to look bad. You, of ALL people, should have been more effective in this delivery than spewing out the same bullshit that sounds like it came from the mouth of Milo Yiannopoulos.

Also, fat shaming has proven to be ineffective as well, since (shocker!) making people feel worse about themselves doesn't lead to weight loss, but the opposite.

@J T I hear you 100%, but generally most people leave feeling worse about themselves. While you do something about it, most people can't find the strength for that, and that's deeper than just being a fatty who's too lazy to take a walk. Shame on you. Shame is not a prescribed cure-all to obesity. Again, take a look at the amount of garbage that is in everything that they claim to be "healthy." It is a problem that has to do with the way we as a society accept/allow food to hit shelves. It's not just, "Oh, you can't help but stuff your face." My siblings are all naturally thinner than I am, yet we grew up on the same diets and meals, and I was in several sports and constantly on a bike or on my feet to get to where I needed to go. Yet, eating a dessert means so much more for me than it does for them. It's not just about mentality. There's so much more to it than that.

Good for you for doing what you have to do to feel better about yourself. It''s truly commendable. But don't give people a reason to start body shaming people because we have now made that a form of prescription medication. People who are bigger but not even obese deal with it as well, where someone thinks that they should look like that disgusting, unhealthy model in a magazine, and be shamed for not looking like that. It's more than health. People shame over beauty, class, status, and many other reasons. Don't belittle it by saying that calling someone a fatty should be the standard.

I left alcohol because I used to get drunk and behaved poorly to the point my family was really embarrassed of me. I stop smoking because women didn't like when I got close (I was smoking 25 cigarettes per day) and I felt bad about it. And now I'm trying to lose weight because how embarrassing is to be a young guy with man boobs and a big belly, shame works, it's only some people don't know how to take the slightest criticism. I felt bad when someone fat shamed me but I felt even worse knowing that I'm not doing anything to change it.

You are so correct, Bill!

He's right. Truth hurts fatties.

I'm overweight. I know I'm overweight. I am also healthy....right now. Fat shaming isn't about talking about health, it's about how people choose to do it. I've learned to tune it out, and guess what happened? I've lost 75lbs in the last two years and I'm healthier now than I was. Point is: don't be a dick about it. Offer help and encouragement.

A monthly 30 dollar gym membership is better bargain than $1500 in lipitor. Better yet, using your bodyweight for exercise is free.
