Jedi Fallen Order is maybe EA doing the right things, but MAYBE is the optimal word. Jedi Fallen Order gameplay is likely right around the corner but the trailer and the marketing speak has been nothing but positive. This is the opposite of what we are seeing out of borderlands 3 which is battling its own pr issues. Star Wars is a brand that deserves a great game out of respawn and Jedi the fallen order could be that, if it can stay on the good side of the EA problems.

Dear respawn entertainment,
please tell EA to fuck off.

Respawn are terrible and fuck everything they touch up after a promising start. They are just terrible. EA will just close them, who cares.

Cool story might pirate.

I'd love to see Respawn snowball into something even bigger is they keep up the way they went with Apex. Maybe one day they will become independent of EA.

I will be waiting it out

I will buy nothing from the Epic Store. I have enough bloody passwords to remember at this stage.

Repsawn are my babies. They do everything right. I heard a few days ago that Apex's season 1 didn't have that much content because the CEO wanted to avoid crunching and cared about the health of his employees. Like how wholesome is this? Plus let's not forget that a lot of the staff comes from MW and MW2

you'd think so because apex was the one ray of light EA had going for them this year but whether it was due to the team splitting up to make a star wars or simply lack of vision for the future, Apex IS dying. It burned hot and the fuse ran short because of it and the battlepass being so underwhelming didn't stop the bleeding.

Woah, I've been gone for a while. This guy has an IGN background!

The holy grail of games will never come to fruition as long as there are ignorant consumers.

When D3, a dead game, maintained by interns has more updates than a new game since launch, that should tell the story.

epic just needs to be for indie developers first

The general thoughts on BL3 for PC users is joining captain scarlett's crew...till it releases on steam...at least that's what I have been seeing...admittedly I'm not tech savvy enough to even know how to do that..but then I have rebuilt a large portion of my truck with no mechanical background and an butt load of YouTube videos so it's not out of the question...now some might say that will hurt the future for BL with that lost revenue...but almost unanimously everyone ready to sail the high seas with an eye patch on have finished the statement by saying they will then purchase it when it comes to steam.

EA owns that studio - no one has EA 'by their pants' except EA inane 'GAS' model. What a fucking dumb click-bait title and perhaps even more inane 'analysis' to back it up...garbage video producer.

On the Epic vs Steam vs both launching topic I have to say I agree with the statement that exclusivity is a sever annoyance to me. It is one of the reasons I stopped investing in consoles as I got older. If it is going to be another GTAV where we have to wait a year or longer for a release from one platform to another, then I'll most likely lose interest in the game during the wait. I have enough log-ins to keep track of as it is between home and work, I don't want to deal with any more than I already have. I got EA origins....for one game, and other than that one game have never used it since. I got Uplay...for one game, and aside from that one game....never used it again. Steam has been the one launcher I always go back to time and time again simply because....I have a large library of games already for it. I don't want to look forward to having to go back and forth on launchers just because of exclusivity deals when it is coming out on the same platform - the PC.

You are an asshole. Lack of freedom ahahaha, this is capitalism dude.
You seem to forget there was a time before Steam when we were NOT FORCED to install any proprietary client to play a fucking game. Steam started all this crap.
This is a free market, what choice are you loosing? You can still decide to install the EPIC client or not. If you were all pro user choice why are you not defending GOG games instead of Steam? No DRM games, they allow fixes and community patches and DON'T force you to use their client to play. I'll tell you why, this discussion is not about players choice it never was, you are just cheering for your favorite company because they have you by the balls. As you said, all your achievements are on Steam, all your friends/games, and people talk about extortion from EPIC side. You just prefer the imperfect monopoly of Steam instead of other company. You are so deep in their shit that now that you defend your master for free. Disgusting.

I understand not praising them for doing what should've been done anyway, but positive reinforcement is important. If there was no positive feedback after them, finally, making a good choice, then they wouldn't keep making those decisions. Regardless, sales will always drive their decisions. Not PR.

You know very well That the bonus money from epic wont go to développer, it will go direct to publisher and then to shareholders, developers will May be get 10$ per head...

Apex Legends HAD marketing campaign. It was just "influencer" driven, twitch "stars" got up to 1 mil $ to stream the game at release and few days after.

the difference between making a ps4 exclusive or xbox exclusive vs. making a pc game exclusive to one seller is different. you have to reformat a game to work properly on each platform, you don't have to change anything to put something on a different store

I want respawn to make a multiplayer option for the Star Wars fans but have a even better campaign (like the last of us)

Ea: NO MICROTRANSACTIONS

Puts microtransactions in anyway

If you think BF2 was a micro-transaction nightmare, check out Galaxy of Heroes. Try $400 new characters and $50 bind on equip gear pieces. EA’s stealth weapon.

A developer getting an advanced payment to maintain payroll and start post release design is only a good thing in theory. It is a short term decision and really should not be necessary if the business operations are conducted properly. If a company hasn't thought to plan for 2 months of post release costs during the years of development of a game, they are running their business terribly. Allowing their poor planning to force them into a position of making a deal with the devil to keep the lights on for two months is even worse business planning. They lose out in the long run by losing sales by being tied to an inferior platform. Epic wins out because they know they could not compete fairly with Steam. Instead of getting 10% of total sales, they get 100% (of the 85% of total games sold now compared to the 100% that would have been sold in free competition, for example). So, Epic makes MUCH more money than they spent in the upfront payment (assuming it is a good and well selling game). Epic isn't paying them cash out of the kindness of their hearts. They only do it because its a good business decision for them. They aren't thinking of the developer OR the consumer. Once they make the deal, the developer loses out in the long run, the consumers lose out in the long run, and the devil makes bank.

The Borderlands 3 deal was struck for a very different reason. Call it ego, but Randy Pitchford and 2K believe their game is SO good and SO anticipated that PC gamers will sacrifice any moral stance to play the game. They think they know that playing the game is more important to gamers than any personal beliefs. "No one would refuse to play this perfect game to take a moral stance. We won't lose any sales by having it on Epic." So, to them getting payed the exclusive money is just extra income. Epic is still doing the same, though. If it was sold openly, Epic would get 10% of the sales (for example), but now they'll get 100% (of 100% this time since no one thinks a gamer would pass up on playing Borderlands 3). So, Epic gets a ton more money than they would have and the payment to 2K is small by comparison.

The simple truth is that Epic knows they have an inferior platform. They know they can't compete in an open free market, but they have the money to force the market to bend to their wishes. If you think they will stop these exclusive deals anytime soon, you're mistaken. They make money from every deal, so it would be bad business for them to stop them until they could compete openly and win enough customers to have a higher profit than paying for the exclusive rights. But, if you think that is going to happen soon, you're mistaken as well. They also have no reason to spend money to improve their platform. Any improvements they do make will be small and incremental and only done to prevent further loss to their image. Improvements are a cost with no benefit to them since their current business model is just as if not more profitable to them than open competition would ever be.

If you read all this, WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH YOU!? LOL - j/k. Thank you very much :-) If you're in an economics or other business class, this would make a great research paper lol.

For me if its singleplayer and its time exclusive i might buy it after it launches on steam or origin if i wont have anything better to play. Will wait for exclusivity to go down since i dont like such move nether Valve or epic need to innovate you do it becouse you want more people but as things stand now there isnt a lot of choices. If they some devs do new ip droped on exclusivity deal i might buy it but if its old one that werent exclusivity deal i wont go after that one to show my my vote on exclusivity deals.

Stealth dropped? I wouldn't go that far their PR and marketing machine was in full gear and just choose to go a different route with regards how to advertising would go. With Apex legends they bought their hype early popularity. They choose to sink more money into the pockets of popular streamers and those in social media versus the traditional route but don't be fooled nothing stealthy or natural about Apex legends hype and popularity when it launched. Alot of money went into its PR and marketing machine and into making sure Apex legends was everywhere and always in people's minds even if they didn't want it there.

I'll buy BL 3 in 2020 when it comes out on steam. I refuse to use epics trash store. I am more than happy to wait, plenty of other games to play in the meantime. All of my friends that I played BL2 with on pc are of the same mind so guess we waitin boys.
