My take on danny going full on , the people of kings landing were not innocent they were complicit in getting 2 dragons killed misande et al , the bells ring , they get to surrender they get to live when those otehrs died, f that , burn em all! its not madness its loss and rage and belief

Danaerys turned Cruella De Vil when the bells were rung

It's almost like she showing Cersei ...you think your bad and will do terrible things...I'll show you who's bad bitch! lady Oleana reflected that she herself lacked imagination! But told the younger Dany to be a Dragon!

How would you have written it? The whole episode before this was her loosing everyone she trusted.

melisandre unkowingly sacrificed shireen baratheon to save arya stark in s8e5, "only death can pay for life" there is alot of evidence to support this from s3e5 onwards an its an extreme detail everybody seems to have missed !!

2 things...
Davos S2E9: "I've never known bells to mean surrender"
Tyrion S8E5: "If the bells ring, that means they surrender."

Aaron: "Is there anything she could say to Tyrion or Jon to... justify her actions in your mind?"
Beau: "Oops?"
(That killed me)

I enjoyed most of this episode. I like how Drogon was used at the start to (for once) effectively pick apart a city's defenses. I like how the fighting inside the city devolves into chaos after Dany goes mad, because that's how the sacking of a city goes. Throughout history, more often than not, victorious attackers in a siege would help themselves to the spoils of war. Raping and pillaging was expected and it sucked to be on the receiving end of a proper sacking.
And like was mentioned in the video, I didn't like how Danny's madness was handled. When the bells were ringing and we start to see Danny, I was thinking "Ok, she was hyped up on adrenaline, but now that the bells are ringing she can take a deep breath and calm down." Nope.
I think the Anakin comparison was apt. Anakin slaughtering the younglings would be something I'd expect after a few years of being Vader, but I'm pretty sure the sacking of the Jedi Temple happened that same night. So yeah, I think there wasn't enough time between Missandei's death and the siege of King's Landing for us to see a proper spiral into madness. Maybe have every other attempt at taking King's Landing fail, and with each failure she gets more frustrated and more volatile. Only then would it make more sense, and be more compelling to see her go Mad Queen.
As for Cersei, I thought it was fine. You wanted her to go out like a bad ass? Cersei was only ever a bad ass when there was no risk to her own well being. Stannis attacks King's Landing, she's readied to sip on some poison. Sparrow's holding her in the cell, she caves and does the walk. Once it sets in that she's lost every single defense she has, that's it, she' powerless. She is no longer capable of doing anything bad ass because she no longer has the power to make any real moves. That being said, I would've have liked it more if the circumstances were more even, and she did still have moves to make, but she didn't.

The Arya part was actually my least favorite part

I think another 2 to 4 episodes would be far more compelling to see that absolute power corrupts absolutely. Dany's children corrupted her. Dragons.

The hound traveled four days with Arya and at the last minute was like "nah go home" lol

Season 8 was a complete let down. D&D ruined the finale season by completely destroying every character's development. The Night Kings death belonged to Jon, Cersei's death belonged to Arya (using her faceless man training), Jamie should have died in Breanne's arms as an honorable knight, Euron belongs to Yara, and the Golden Company was a disaster. Danny worked her ass off to be a queen and I could totally see her being assassinated by someone from the Maisters Guild and dying in Jon's arms with her leaving the throne to the one person who did not want it, the last Targarion. They should have done the show right and taken 10 seasons. I have more, but you all get my drift.

Oh but madness is not logical. The fight for King's Landing was enough to do it to her. She had aggrandized and romanticized this battle for a very long time, and also had a vision(hallucination?) of King's Landing covered in ash with the undying. She had fantasized about this forever. Something was said about her "good intentions." Good intentions and insanity are not mutually exclusive. To believe so shows a lack of understanding of insanity. Along with being genetically predisposed to psychosis she has a long history of trauma, and has suffered recent deaths of close loved ones. People who experience psychosis experience something called funeral mania, which means they do not handle death the same way a normal person does. To assume so is extremely naive. This is very psychiatrically accurate and accurate portrayal of mental illness is very rare in pop culture. Kudos to them. People will look back on this and applaud it.

The Hound's ending was excellent stop bitching!!

Read your Shakespeare 'cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war'; people under siege who did not surrender faced annihilation if the enemy got in; every single thing alive was murdered; the writers gave you the real fucking deal and you bitch like Micky Mouse has just fucked your sister|!

Daenerys: I will nor be the Queen of Ashes.

Everyone: Well, that was a fucking lie.

Daenerys, as from the very start of the show, has always taken the cities she took without war..
She burnt the leaders, the masters, the kings, sometimes without even a warning.. she just killed the people in charge and took charge herself.
Why is it so reasonable , for this specific character, to not have done the same thing with Cersei when she arrived to Westeros?
Why did she not fly to KL and burn the palace down, even from the beginning of season seven? I haven’t yet understood why three dragons weren’t enough to take Cersei out of the picture without war, either by killing her or forcing her to surrender. Obviously, from this episode, one dragon was enough to kill everybody she need to kill and the palace was destroyed and fell on their heads.. What if she had gone to KL with three of them? Her enemies wouldn’t even have the time to go down the stairs of the palace if they refused to surrender... nobody would have to go and bring a zombie to convince Cersei to join them in their quest. Nobody important to her would have to be put in danger.. there are so many things that don’t make sense to me

euron slowed jamie down enough so the passage was blocked. im givin him that kill.

I just want to address that this was that

In medieval battles when the soldiers came to a city they were given one chance for the governor to open the gates. If they forced them to fight for the city then no mercy would be shown.
As example going use Shakespeares Henry V asking for the surrender of Hafleur. Henry is a good king but fearsome king. like Daenarys Here Henry solicits the Governor for surrender (abridged)
Governor what do you say?
This is your last opportunity to plead for mercy;

I describe myself best as a soldier,
If I begin the battery once again,
I will not leave Harfleur
Till in her ashes she lie buried.
The gates of mercy shall be all shut up,
Know my soldiers are rough from battle, Ill let them loose upon you freely and with a bloody hand they shall rage

Entering in with minds as wide as hell, mowing like grass
Your fresh young virgins and your blossoming infants.
What do I care, if uncaring war,
Array'd in flames like Satan red faced
brings your town to waste and desolation when you brought it all upon yourself.
What is it to me if your pure maidens are forced to the ground by heated soldiers and raped? Who can hold them back once this ball of licentious wickedness is rolling downhill? When enraged soldiers come to take their spoil.

Pity yourselves and plead mercy now.

If not you will soon see the blind and bloody handed soldier defile the locks of your shrieking daughters. Your fathers taken by their silver beards and their reverend heads dashed upon the walls. You will see your newborn babies split on pikes atop the wall.

While the mad mothers with their howls break the clouds. As did the jewish wives wail during Herod's bloody time witnessing the slaughter of their babies.
What say you. Will you yield and this avoid? Or guilty in defense be thus destroyed.

Traditionally you get one chance to bow the knee. Cerce defiant slew Misandree. Her having seen what was behind the walls her last words said Burn them all without mercy. Looking at the Red Keep Dany knew Cerce did not plead for mercy from her people. The way they would handle it in our historical times were to murder plunder rape and burn it all to the ground without mercy. They would be given no mercy that no one hearing of their horrors would fail to bow the knee.  Tyrion invented this second chance deal with the bells. Basically attempting to restrain Dany again. You noted neither Dany or Greyworm seemed plussed about the idea. Ironically its once again Tyrians advice will be her downfall.  If I haven't made my point, if the city defy's you utterly destroy it. When she paused, she was weighing the advice of her bad advisors and loss of dragons and her best advisor. Who said Dracarys. She also advised her Trust your self and follow the path that only you see.

Dany burns the people she is supposed to rule... she burns down the castle shes supposed to live in. the vision of the iron throne in a broken down red keep comes true. what will she gain at the end of this???...more enemies than allies.. the north is already against her. lets hope she doesnt go and burn down winterfell now.

To all you game of throne fans because of this season do you regret watching it?? Cause i was thinking of starting but im not sure now.

There is no way an extended work of fiction can be concluded without some one hating the conclusion. Considering the limitations of visual storytelling, I think the show runners have done just fine.

The darkest episode was the Long Night ;)
But this is the worst episode ever for sure

Im done. This was one of the worst episodes of the entire show.

Im sorry , can anyone address where's the fucking snow !!, When Jamie left king's landing at the end of season 7 it started snowing before he left, even tho they keep mentioning how long winter last in this FUCKING SHOW , after few episodes it the winter is never mentioned again!, There's no snow at all in episode 5 ! WTF.

This subverting expectations for the sake of spectical has destroyed this show. I can respect your wanting to put a positive spin on elements of this episode, but the writers and show runners have been trashing the Game since season 6. The last straw was season 8 epi 3 with the destruction of the Night King. I'm just watching now out of curiosity as to how bad it will be.
The best out come would be that the John kills Dany in front of her armies, stabbing her through the heart, Rhaegal blasts John with flame, but he survives exposing him as truly being Targarian lighting his valerian steel sword and he kills Rhaegal with it or makes Rhaegal submit to his will and all the 7 kingdoms bow before him. It will still be a crap finish.

You nerds don't get it. There was a fifty/fifty chance (flipping the coin) that a Targaryen Daenerys would have a sudden trigger and Daenerys' trigger was no one she could trust or love. Everyone she loved was killed or rejected her (Jon). We have been told all season long this might happen and was said dozens of times and WHY Robert B. wanted to kill her, among other reasons. As far as it happening too fast, this was a woman scorned!! Look at her life and tell me if it wouldn't have driven YOU mad once you had the chance to get your revenge. The people of Westeros SUCK! Remember how they would go back and forth on Cersei or Joffrey. Jeezus people, get real!!! This was the ultimate and the most inevitable ending of Dany! Don't believe me? It was a better episode than others this season but OMG, lazy writing everywhere. Euron´s desire to kill Jaime came from nowhere, and all we have seen of him so far is that he is a survivor above all else. The writers did not sell Danny´s turn to the darkside at all.
