A helicopter has crashed on top of a building in Manhattan, the New York City Fire Department tweeted. CNN's Brooke Baldwin has the latest, meanwhile Miguel Marquez spoke to Nathan Hutton, who was in the Manhattan building where a helicopter made a crash landing. #CNN #News

I don't know why my initial comment is duplicated here unless I did something to make it so. Anyway here is what I previously stated:
As an instrument rated airplane pilot who has been flying for around 50 years I have something to say. I've also been in helicopters flying along the Hudson and East Rivers.
I too can not understand what happened here. Since a person on the ground was able to videotape the helicopter, that means the pilot was also able to see the ground before the crash. A few years ago the pilot had a prior emergency experience due to a bird crashing into and blowing out his front window. This same pilot was competent enough to make an emergency landing and save everybody on board. So he was already an aviation hero before yesterday. He was also a hero firefighter and a voluntary chief of firefighters according to my research.
However, the following is what I do not understand. Why is the video of the "chopper" (I hate that term "chopper" but I'll use it here because so many people use it) so clear when first observed? The pilot was flying under the clouds and had a visual view of the ground after he took off. The video does seem to show some erratic movements before the chopper went into the clouds. But why? I do not believe it was weather-related.
Was it really from bad weather? Or was the pilot having an emergency with his equipment? Or was he possibly having a physical emergency? Please do not listen to the news reporters who argue the pilot did not have a "bad weather" license. It's not called a "bad weather" license. It's known as an "instrument rating" and the weather issue may not even be relevant to this story because helicopters are given special deviation rules to fly very low underneath foggy clouds. Those same rules do not apply to airplanes. Airplanes are restricted to visibility limits to 3 miles and 1000 ft. of a cloud ceiling before they need special permission to fly into such conditions. Helicopters are exempt and can fly much lower and with fewer visibility requirements under the FAA regulations. Yet, if they desire to fly in clouds, then they must comply with the same regulations as airplanes.
People, please do not come to any conclusions until the NTSB has at least made some preliminary findings. I'm sure there will be a medical examination to determine his condition just before the crash. In honor of his prior heroism as a firefighter and as an experienced chopper pilot, let's give his family the due respect they deserve during this sad time.
The answers will come out eventually. There will be other videos from other sources. Let's not let the news people speculate before we have all the facts.
But I will say this, it appears there was some trouble either mechanically or physically because the chopper did have other alternatives to land. He could have landed in the river or on the beach or somewhere else like many boat peers or even the aircraft carrier ported there. Being an experienced chopper pilot, he must have determined the event was so critical that the nearest way to save himself was to land as quickly as possible. Was he trying to land or did he accidentally collide with the top of a building?
To me, that points out that he was experiencing some sort of emergency, whether mechanical or physical. Let's wait and see the NTSB preliminary and final results. In the meantime, let's all pray for him and his family.

OK "CNN", perhaps you need to contact 'Nine News Australia' , and let them know, the Black man being interviewed is Nathan Hutton, not Devin Duncan. Talk about...lost in translation.🤤🤓

This was for sure an emergency landing, this pilot is a hero for crash landing where he did and not in the street. This could have been a lot worse. My question... why was he approved for takeoff on a day like this, all aircraft should have been grounded, due to bad weather..

New Yorkers in that area should thank God it didn't come down in the street and there wasn't more loss of life. But i have a question why do they have to ask about 911 in every interview, possible prepping minds for another false flag and more military action ?
