Had always been an AMD guy since I started building PC's but changed to Intel 4 years back because Intel was the best chip I could find locally, am now thinking of changing back, purely for the price point, hard to pass up the savings on the CPU that I can then put those savings elsewhere to improve my overall builds. Looking forward to my new build once these processors drop.

In the navi leaks there were 2 more gpus, the 2 cheaper ones do we have any news on these or shall I just get the 590

Ryzen 3000 really does look like it delivers the goods. Navi for mid range gaming? It's good-ish, but pricey and still a bit power hungry. I give them a pass on this though. Why? I do not think it is realistic to expect a smaller company to compete simultaneously on CPU with Intel and GPU with Nvidia (those two combined are several times larger than AMD). It looks to be like Zen is their main focus and Navi less so. If AMD really has dethroned the 9900K I think that is some achievement considering they are doing it with far less R&D resources than Intel has -- or it just shows how badly Intel have been reaming us.

Nvidia graphic cards are garbage really, because cry engine showed you don't need to get 2080ti to get ray tracing.

Excited about the new AMD CPU's, but "meh" on the GPU's. That pretty much sums up how I feel ;)

Buy all amd because cry engine showed, you don't need 2080ti to have ray tracing.

As much of a bummer as it is to not have competition at the top of the stack, Jay is right on this. They're competing and doing a damn good job by the sound of it in the "consumer" space (by that I mean not enthusiast). Getting their hardware into next gen consoles is a major win and it seems like the value proposition is much better in the 200-500 dollar range, as I would bet most people buying cards in that range aren't that worried about ray tracing. I guess the 1660 is still an option. I like choices and I like competition and this generation seems like it's going to set up AMD pretty well for the future.

Any idea when the new AMD Ryzen 3000 series will be released for us to buy in a laptop? I am in the market for a new laptop for 3D modelling/animation, I am afraid to purchase Intel if AMD gives you way more performance per dollar AND outperforms Intel.

I hope they bring the Navi pro 2 duo from mac to pc and a raytracing version i bet they are working on it. I hope more games embrace new tech raytracing

I think the focus on midrange is the best thing for amd

amd what the fuck summarizes what they revealed pretty much.

I hope AMD can show up with a 5800XT and 5900XT....we'll see.

Short answer: no its not
Long answer: no its not, but with a longer sentence.

Your post is ying n yang, it's funny but wrong, the AMD cards can match or beat the equivalent Nvidia ones, they're cheaper too, but wether you want one or not, or like AMD or Nvidia, it's created competition which is better for us, before AMD even got to properly show the cards Nvidia quickly brings a clip saying 'Super', we now know that means buffed versions of the cards AMD is competing against along with a price cut on the standard cards, that shows Nvidia knew the AMD cards were good and didnt want to lose sales to them, not everyone can afford to buy into Nvidia overpriced cards no matter how good they are, yes AMD has taken too long but at least they are competitive on performance aswell as pricing now.

Those cards are ok but simply 15-25% overpriced.
Oh and you forgot that we have vega for the high(er) end especially the vega 56 is an awesome card and priced fairly and better than Nvidia cards....

Those new navi GPU still properly have the same heat/power/bad drivers at launch issue just like previous amd GPU,i am sure of it

the real question treatripper 2 vs ryzen 3000.
the new x570 boards are as pricey as treatripper boards,
announced processor price seems comparable ( version 16 core vs 16 core),
ryzen 3000 better performance for newer architecture, probably,
treatripper more pcie lansen,
and more ramslots.

TL;DW: Wait for Navi, still.

No it wasnt worth the wait because they are only competing with the 2070. They have no gpu to match the 2080 or 2080ti like wtfff. I already have a 2070 and if I want to upgrade the new AMD GPU is pointless lol. They are so behind on GPUs it's sad. Takes them a year just to catch up to nvidia midrange card?? Their new cpus look amazing though

AMD's decisions make much more sense when you consider the fact that the average at-home desktop gamer is the absolute last person they are thinking about when designing a new product. Not saying they're anti-consumer or anything. AMD has their hands in absolutely EVERYTHING now, with the Google Stadia deal, the new consoles running their cards, and lots of AI/compute projects. AMD is focused on providing those companies with the most cost-effective solutions that can meet their needs, as well as being the one-stop-shop so they can have just one contract for both their CPU and GPU needs. This has been Dr. Lisa Sue's strategy since she took over, and it has caused a 10x increase in AMD stock. In other words, this strategy is what turned AMD around and made them a profitable company again. The average desktop user literally just gets what's basically the bi-products of AMD's other business deals. Many people pointed out that Radeon VII was just a re-purposed AI card, and they're right. AMD saw a chance to take extra stock and do something with it other than having it sit on a shelf.

No, they don't compete with Nvidia at the highest end. Why would they? The VAST majority of people don't actually by cards in that price range. Just the most hardcore of enthusiasts. Most people buy cards in the $200-500-ish range, which is why most of their cards fall in that range. They have better pricing in that range and they compete very well there. Their marketing sucks, and they've let Nvidia keep all the mind share, but if they'd just market better, they'd have an easy advantage. Reviewers have been pointing out the better price-to-performance from AMD at least for the past several months now, but people buy Nvidia because they want 'the best' and Nvidia has provided that in the past, and still promotes themselves as such.

Dont mind dumping Intel, but im not ready to leave nvIDIA

AMD could just implement ray tracing at the driver level just like Nvidia did with the GTX 10* series, there’s a performance cost but their architecture and core count supports it. Plus once the cards are available more developers will write custom code to support such features

Digging the background and lighting!

I’m all for competition but Navi was sort of a letdown. Ryzen makes up for it though

When will laptops take up these specs and will the previous gen price drop

I can't wait. My first build was an AMD K6-2, followed by a couple of Athlons. I've always wanted to get back with the brand. I really just needed them to get close to Intel for gaming purposes and they may have done it. Coolness. I can't do anything with their video cards though. I finally got a 65" QLED and can't really stomach the idea of dropping below 60fps@4K - Even with the bonus of Freesync. Which Nvidia supports... across Display port... Turds.
