Johnny "Money" Manziel was easily one of the most entertaining college football players of his generation, with athleticism that made SEC defenders constantly look like kids in their backyards. As the first ever Freshman to win the Heisman trophy, it didn't take long for hype to build Manziel up as the next great NFL quarterback, even amidst constant off-field controversy during his time at Texas A&M. While many doubted his staying power in the league after being selected by the Cleveland Browns in the first round, few people saw the full-blown collapse of Manziel's career coming just two years after he entered the NFL. Watch this video to take a look at the skills and abilities that made him a generational talent at the college level, and why many of those same skills dug his own grave once he entered the pros.

I’m guessing it’s because he was too small, too dumb...and oh, yeah—full of cocaine.

As a Browns fan, that team is dysfunctional. So dysfunctional that Joe Banner team CEO who was fired right before draft removed Johnny from the draft board. They had no plans to draft him. They planned to take Teddy Bridgewater if able. However, Banner is fired and owner Jimmy Haslam overrules everyone to take Manziel. Coaches didn’t want him. Kyle Shannahan was the OC that year knew he would be a bum. The only reason he played was out of necessity. That 2014 draft was a utter mess for the Browns.

Its simple... just pair him up with Evan's again. Done. Or the XFL.. the media fucked him though. Also the Browns just suck. He got fame for all the wrong reasons. That's not his fault though. Everyone loves a trainwreck...

Johnny Manziel "I don't know the X's and O's of football"
Every Cleveland Browns coach for the last 10 years "are you challenging me?"

I like collecting NFL cards. Patrick Mahomes cards are in high demand. For some reason Johnny Manziel cards seem to always be available and on sale for at least 90% off....

He didn't take the NFL seriously!

Has a great scrambling and passing qb ever had a long successful career in the NFL? Seems destined for injury

Worst move for XFL to pick up Manziel he would represent the best of the worst players cut from NFL. If Vince knew better he would get college players who don't make NFL. People mature diffrently might take them a few more years outta college.

Sooner or later, it takes more than just talent to get by in the NFL. Johnny was never a student of the game. He relied on his ability to run, pass, and to create.
In the NFL you have to do much more than that to be successful.

Honestly, I think being drafted by the Browns was the worst thing that could have happened to him. He he had been drafted by the Vikings (who were the next team in the draft to pick up a QB), I think he would have come out different. That's my speculation, of course, but the Browns have managed to ruin every player they've ever had. It's part of Browns culture to be a failure at this point.

I’m happy stupid people like him dont get to utilize their god given talents

There so much analysis here... it's really simple... he got drafted by a dead end team with the Browns, and knew he was stuck in shit for at least 5 years. I'd be depressed as shit in his shoes, and I bet he was too... so he turned to partying to feel better.

Once you read this: https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2016/10/the-fight-to-save-johnny-manziel-from-self-destruction you'll know why he was a washout in the NFL.

I didn't watch the video but I would assume his downfall was alcohol and drug addiction. Just a wild guess.

He failed because he subscribed to his own bullshit!

Maziel was like vick (but vick was a better athlete) where you try to get by without working hard at it like watching tape and going to meetings. Only gets you so far. And honestly most of his success was because of Mike Evans. Shit I could get drunk and high and throw a football too and odds are evans would come down with it. He is one of the reasons winston stuck around so long in tampa because winston sucks too.
