I've been working out since highschool and I've never attempted a deadlift because it looked very unnatural as an exercise.
I'm guessing Joe Rogan's word of the day is "visceral"

I would have to agree with him. As a pt I wouldn't have clients (especially beginners) doing deadlifts, even though I was always taught that deadlifts are essential to most workout programs. There are so many great leg and back exercises out there with little risk of injury, looking for those safer alternatives would be in most peoples interests (i.e. the average gym goer who just wants to get fit or lose some weight).
Dear Joe, you are one of the coolest guys on the internet and I truly love your style, but I must say that your seemingly irrational and visceral aversion to plant-based lifestyles is quite disappointing. If you only did a bit of serious research on this topic you would understand the huge environmental and ethical implications of feeding and killing animals for food, when we can perfectly avoid doing so and lead healthy lives while protecting our decaying biosphere. Would you be willing to make a podcast as a serious debate between the most well-respected activists or researchers in the environmental aspects of leading a plant-based vs meat-based diets?

The sole reason people fuck themselves up on deadlifts is ego lifting, trying to pull too much and having tight muscles resulting in poor form. The deadlift is the best overall compound movement fact.
Deadlifts are great just don't use a weight that you'll end up hurting yourself with its not rocket science
Your heart also has to work very hard to pump all the blood through the body when you're that large.

Broke my back 5 years ago. I did a ton of strongman training and competed local. Deadlift caused my my issues which are vast. I’m only 36.. just say NO to deadlifts lol.

never liked deadlifts. I just don't like the idea of all that weight and the motion involving the lower back. I don't care if there's no risk if done properly, a mistake there and I mean once you hurt your back that shit lingers for life.

He contradicted himself as soon as he tried explaining why to shouldn’t deadlift, “you go into any football or college weight room they’re power cleaning...” so if you think about a power clean & how to perform it properly with good technique, there’s 4 positions. 1.) grabbing the bar, creating stability throughout your body while the bars on the ground 2.) bar at knee level, flat back, slightly bent knees. 3.) continue bring the bar up while bringing your hips to the bar... I’m not explaining position 4 because just thinking about those first three, what does that sound like? A freaking dead lift! In strong man & powerlifting technique barely matters as far as completing the lift, so when a former competitor finally realizes how horrible that is for there body (listen too Eddie Hall talk about his power lifting career) they either leave the sport completely or walk around saying dumb stuff like this. The major keys to lifting weights to stay healthy: Understand your own body, no two peoples body’s are the same so lifting patterns could be very different. Use proper technique so your body can actually keep itself in a safe position while performing the lift. And last + most important NEVER sacrifice technique for numbers, if your stick to your regimen (considering your eating well + getting good sleep) the numbers will come, patience. I could go on for days explaining why this is bs & why his examples are really just excuses to not do a very complex yet great exercise.

Bullshit! I've done deadlifts for yrs an have a strong lower back from it! Deadlifts are not the problem, the problem is the same as with anything, not warming up not allowing recovery time jerking trying to lift too much ect. Of course there's risks just like jogging or anything you can't get benefits without risks. And anyone who says they got arthritis from sports, it wasn't the sports that caused arthritis, it's injuries that caused it. Laying on the couch all the time causes arthritis too..
