Kinda disappointed that we never saw an actual kraken...

I always like the sea raiders in most fantasy stories, but the greyjoys even with a kickass theme song and a kickass castle, they still suck, like every battle they are in they lose

House Greyjoy Theme is darkly intense and one of the best themes of Game of Thrones.

My favourite thing about the Greyjoys: their theme music

16:50 is sick!

They better give Theon a better ending than Stannis. These two characters were the most tragic, they fucked Stannis up but hopefully they will make Theon repent for his sins somehow.

For all the faults of the Ironborn, the Greyjoys truly are an example of what their people could become. A history of being spat and looked down upon by all of the other houses of Westeros, and spitting and staring back at them. A history of being defeated and trampled, and still rising once again with more determination than before. A history of perseverance. A history of survival, no matter what may kill you.

Theon lost multiple of his brothers, was treated as though he was a slave of the Starks by his peers for the entirety of his childhood, and shunned and neglected by the very father who gave him away to the North. He still fought for House Stark as though they were his own, and while he may have betrayed them by taking Winterfell, he meant only to prove himself to his manipulative sister and father, who would not accept him as true family. He felt the only way to live his life like a normal son and prince, was to prove that he was Euron Greyjoy's son and heir, and was manipulated into betraying the ones he truly loved. I do not blame him in the slightest for that fault, although I do blame him for the way he treated the Northerners upon taking Winterfell and executing Ser Rodrik. He did wrong, and paid the iron price by being betrayed by his own men and being left for dead. He was abandoned and left to rot in the North, while his father and sister still neglected his efforts to prove his worth. He rose again, harder and stronger, and attempted to escape the Northern lords, and while he may have been deceived and tortured by Ramsay, he would not break for the better part of a year. He was castrated and stripped of his identity and pride, his fingers flayed and his right to the Salt Throne being removed and sent to his father as further humiliation. He still stated he was Theon Greyjoy even after this. In the end, however, Theon Greyjoy would be broken, and would essentially die. Theon was gone, and Reek was born.

However, as the crowning of the Ironborn's king proclaims, "what is dead may never die, but rises again, harder and stronger." He would break from his captivity and, with no friends left in the world, rescued Sansa from her marriage to Ramsay, knowing full well that she could kill him if she wanted to, out of rage from his betrayal of the Starks. He killed Myranda, showing the start of his rise from being broken, and with the killing of a Bolton soldier who would have killed Podrick, he became Theon Greyjoy once again. The tides of his past washed over him, drowning Reek. He may have forever been changed, but he would rise again, harder and stronger, killing Reek and becoming, once more, Theon Greyjoy. While he may have run from Euron, this was not an act of cowardice. This was smart because he knew that Yara would not be killed by Euron if held captive, and that he could rescue her with the right men in the future.

When he was pulled from the waters by Yara's men, they were broken and hopeless, about to revert back to their barbaric, pirate-like nature; they belittled him, spat upon him, and treated him like a coward, exactly as the great houses of Westeros did to the Ironborn for generations. However, Theon would rise again, harder and stronger, and remind them that Yara may be dead to them, but in the words of the Ironborn, "what is dead may never die." Theon was almost beaten to death by one of her men, but rose again, harder and stronger, and would show that "he does not sow," pummeling him into the ground and rising to his feet once again, beaten and bruised, but still inspired with determination to rescue his sister. He would revive his broken crew, resurrecting the pride within the Ironborn and their dedication to Yara.

Theon Greyjoy shows what the Ironborn can become. They do not have to be rapists or reavers. Theon has been spat upon, beaten, tortured, and essentially killed and replaced with Reek, but still rose once again, harder and stronger, and fought back. He does not sow, and he is more Ironborn than any other Ironborn can truly claim - even Yara. Theon Greyjoy is the true underdog of this show, and, in my opinion, the most badass character. No matter what happens to Theon, he rises and fights back, even if he knows he may lose, because he is not only Ironborn, but a Greyjoy. What is dead may never die, but rises again harder and stronger; Greyjoys do not sow.

(Sorry about the nerd tangent, I just fucking love Theon Greyjoy's character and Alfie Allen's portrayal of him. Easily one of the best actors on the show, and the music that this show composes is absolutely exceptional. You can hear the history of the Ironborn in the Greyjoy theme, and can hear their defiance in the face of overwhelming odds with each individual piece of music.)

An island of lawless pirates, who when not raping and pillaging fulltime, can construct an entire fleet of ships in a few months from a rocky treeless bare island on demand. Varys should have just outsourced them and saved a lot of filler time in Mereen.

You're speaking from what you've seen on the show. On the show we have only seen Pyke. The Iron Islands form an archipelago. There are many islands and everyone isn't a pirate. After all although it isn't considered one of the seven kingdoms it is on par with the seven kingdoms as a region in westeros

Never knew that the greyjoy theme was in winds of winter, that is a cool discovery. It's a slowed down version in the beginning.

Did you pay the iron price for these songs?

If you're implying these songs were paid for, then you have already been answered, sir.
