9. Killifish
It may not be too far a stretch to call the Killifish one of the most unique and interesting fish in the world. That's because this is a fish that only lives for about a year, and it uses its body as a missile in order to get food. However, one of the most shocking and surprising things about it, is that it can live on land for a week despite being a fish!!

8. European Wels Catfish
The Wels Catfish is one of the world’s largest freshwater fish. This giant fish is native to Eastern Europe but can now be found all over thanks to fishermen who wanted to be able to fish them for sport in Spain and Italy. These fish can get up to 15 feet long and weigh anywhere from 300 to 600 pounds!!

7. Silver Arowana
In South America, there is a fish known as the Silver Arowana, and it's known to be quite a vicious predator. It has a leaping ability that is so good that they are able to jump out of the water in order to catch birds, insects, and even grab low-hanging snakes. Just as important though is that they do it with such speed and accuracy that their prey doesn't have time to react, ensuring that they get their meal.

6. Eel Catfish
The Eel Catfish is another unique fish that has developed the ability to move onto land!! This fish is found in the muddy swamps of western Africa can grow 12-16 in long (30-40cm). What’s weird about them is that they love to eat beetles which are found on land! The fish has to be hungry enough to want to go through the effort but when it does, it propels itself onto the shore, raises up the front part of its body, and lunges at it with its jaws wide so it can bite down on the beetle.

5. Giant Trevally
When BBC was filming their special "Blue Planet II", they were given a tip that there were fish eating birds off of the coast of the Seychelles. The fish that was doing this was one that had not been documented before as ever eating birds! The Giant Trevally fish.

4. Rainbow Trout
When it comes to the Rainbow Trout, it already had a reputation for being an extraordinary fish. Mainly because of its fighting spirit and the ability it has to leap out of the water, but when a research team caught a very special Rainbow Trout on camera, they were shocked!! Inside the Rainbow Trout were about 20 shrews.

3. Sharks
Sharks are one of the top predators in the ocean, and so you might think that they wouldn't even need to feast on land animals or birds in order to feed their hunger. But the fact of the matter is, when a shark is hungry, they are not going to be picky!! They're known for eating seals, sea lions, and other creatures that hover between land and sea, and for certain species like Tiger Sharks, they're perfectly fine with catching birds right out of the air.

2. Archer Fish
When it comes to a creature of the water getting a creature on the land, or in the air, they usually have to develop a special technique. The Archer Fish preys on bugs and other small creatures that hover too close to the water. And with the Archer Fish, they have arguably gotten the most unique, and potentially epic, adaptation of all: the ability to shoot water like a bullet.

1. Orcas
While Orcas are not fish, I had to include them on this list because they are very impressive apex predators!! These guys are known as Killer Whales for a reason and they have earned that title by killing creatures both in the water and on land.

They’re burrow rodents. When there’s flash floods they get wiped out of their holes and the trout eat them up. I’ve seen them in fish since I was a little kid. Not just rainbows either. Brown and Brook too 🤙🏻

Thumbs down Catrina! Stop click-baiting! You owe us a killer whale munching on a deer!

Archer Fish, i would like to hear the evolution explaination to it or are they just that smart?

Dislike for the clickbaiting and also I dislike that belittling type of voice/commentary treating us as if we were small babies.

She says they're not fish, then almost immediately says "orca whales". Wrong again!

Please piss off Katrina!

No mention of Brown Bullhead sharks and their thing for swimming up rivers and preferring to attack terrestrial mammals before anything else? They are a problem up rivers like the Mississippi and even Australia where sheep are eaten by sharks hundreds of miles upriver.

Okay so for those of you saying the thumbnail is click bit. It is.... Kinda, you see orcas don't eat deer however orcas DO eat moose. (You can look this up if you don't believe me) and this is because moose are so strong, big and powerful that pretty much nothing can kill them they don't really have any natural predators on land... When they're in the water though that's a different story they're more vulnerable. So that gives orcas the chance to eat them. So do orcas eat deer? No, but they do eat moose, so that makes the orca the only natural predator of the moose.

Orcas are fish!

Don't get your whatsits in a knot - humans are too! Or we would be if the term 'fish' had any scientific meaning. Taxonomy has changed and living things are now classified in 'clades' (a clade being a group that contains everything that evolves from a common ancestor. So we are in the same clade as...primordial slime and whatever the first mammal was.

But fish is a better descriptor of things that live in water and are chordate. We're happy to call a lobster 'shellfish' (chordate, lives in water), but sponges are obviously not fish (live in water, not chordate). But orcas live in water and are chordate - that's about as fishy as we need, really.
Whaddayamean fish are cold blooded so a mammal can't be one? Tuna and mackerel shark are warm blooded. See what I mean (I was surprised when I heard that...and many sharks give birth to 'live' young)? It's not unreasonable to think of marine mammals as fish - if you breed in water then you're a water creature.
And the video shows the opposite is happening - evolution doesn't have to happen once! I'm talking about mudskippers, a group of 'fish' species that are evolving to live on land (will jump out of water when chased by predators, hatch their eggs in air and other unfishy characteristics).

I'm no biologist so some of these details might be slightly wrong - but not by a huge margin.

I'm calling orca fish...just to get the 'but orcas are mammals' crowd in a tizzy - and learn that they're out of date.

Sharks have been hunted by killer whales (which are dolphins not a whale or a fish) for the livers. 5 great white sharks were washed up on the beach liver-less. Due to the bite marks on each shark carcus were identified as an orca attack.
