This is a major project by the Al Jazeera Investigative Unit focusing on the 787 “Dreamliner”, the flagship passenger jet of the Boeing Company.

Our journalism reveals the deeply-held safety concerns of current and former Boeing engineers, who in some cases fear to fly on the 787, the plane they build.

We uncover allegations of on-the-job drug use, quality control problems and poor workmanship.

We explore the roots of the battery problems that led to the plane’s grounding due to safety concerns for three months from January 2013.

And yet, after everything thats happened with the 787... we are watching the 737-Max Drama unfold. Year 2019. How is it possible that the Boeing Managers are still not in jail. Unbelivable.

that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. If being a whistleblower would make it harder to live that means that basically every single corporation is disgustingly corrupt

Going Boeing Gone.

Batteries bursting into flames, Rolls Royce engines exploding, wing cracks... I'm going to fly on a B787 in a couple of months and I'd be lying if I said I'm not worried after this documentary.

I will never fly a Boeing plane.

Give boeing back to engineers!

Corporate thugs is an accurate description of how Boeing has regressed since moving from Seattle to Chicago. It affects their decision-making on both 787 and 737 programs.

You shouldn’t have to “craft a proper response” if nothing you’re doing is shady or wrong.

People wonder why I won’t fly... just thinking about it gives me anxiety yet I don’t mind dying, I just don’t want it to be traumatic.

First the dreamliner then the max. Maybe boeing really doesnt care about safety.

This program is a joke right? 2019, what's the 787s safety record currently? Yeah, STFU.

Its almost 10 years, they are all up and flying. If build quality is so bad how they are up till now

What's with Boeing and shortcuts? This then the 737 Max? Is this what American industry has come to, ignoring passenger safety for a quick buck? Boing needs to be investigated not only for the 737 but just overall, god only knows exactly what they're doing.

Looks like the 737 MAX is following in the same process used in building the 787 and that is NOT a good sign...

MCAS design and implementation were inexcusable for both Boeing and the FAA... It was designed to crash aircraft if a sensor failed and there was no testing of what the plane would do if any of many other sensors failed...

Same for other parts of the 737 MAX that the FAA has finally discovered that it was not manufactured to proper specifications.

It might be 10, 15 or 20 years before we really see manufacturing defects causing planes to crash and by then those who made bad decisions will be long-gone from Boeing...
